Factory tests of Christy 6199 hovercraft
Operation of all units of the ACV was tested in the presence of the customer.
At the photo and video you can see how easily the ship with a flexible two-tier skirt starts moving and overcomes the log, lying on the bank. The video shows the advantage of two-tier structure. Air, pumped into the flexible fence, goes out from the gap between the log and the container in the skeg cushions. This would lead to a loss of pressure in the cushion and the inability to raise the ship above the surface, ie, loss of ability to move the ship. In all Christy models flexible protection scheme is used. Its lower tier is made up of 150 individual segments.
Each of them takes in strictly determined quantity of air. This enables to overcome any obstacles and rough surface without loss of pressure under the cushion, since the segments do not provide a gap between the obstacle and the motion surface.
